A study drawn up by UPR tends to show that Universal Periodic Review delivers results on the ground.
« According to UPR Info's data, three years after a State’s review, approximately 48% of the recommendations have triggered action by the Government. In other words, by extrapolating this data, almost 1 recommendation out of 2 has produced results at mid-term.
This figure of 48% comes from the assessment of more than 11’000 recommendations based on information received from States, national human rights institutions, NGOs and UN agencies. It is the conclusion of a three-year programme run by UPR Info which will be summarised into a new study to be published at the end of October. A side event will be organised at the UPR 20th Working Group session to share this new study and its findings. »
