Towards the third phase (2015-2019) of the UN World Programme for Human Rights Education

The second phase of the UN World Programme for Human Rights in coming to an end. The draft action plan (2015-2019) in consultation with States, relevant intergovernmental organizations, in particular the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, national human rights institutions and civil society, including non-governmental organizations, will be submitted by the Human Rights Council at its twenty-seventh session (8th-26th september 2014).

The third phase of the World Programme aims to strengthen the implementation of the first two phases (Initial and in-service training for teachers, educators, civil servants and military staff) and to promote human rights training for journalists and media professionals. For the next five years emphasis will be placed on : education and training; non discrimination as a mean to fight against stereotypes and violence; supporting diversity, tolerance, social integration, dialogue between cultures and religions; public awareness regarding the universality, indivisibility and interdépendance of all human rights.
