Morocco : international forum under pressure

Two major human rights advocacy groups (Association Marocaine de Défense des Droits de l’Humains (AMDH) and the Ligue Marocaine de Défense des Droits de l’Homme (LMDDH)) have both announced the boycott of this international event, saying that the government in making use of this important conference for its own purposes. Furthermore AMDH’s President, Ahmed El Haij, denounces the banning of the association’s activities by the authorities : « this situation is not compatible with our participation »; « Enough is enough! », said he.

Human Rights Watch calls the government to stop interfering arbitrarily while the President of the National Council said that they remain open to all partners who wish to defend their view.
