17th session of the Human Rights Council’s UPR Working group

Today, in Geneva, the work of the Human Rights Council’s UPR Working group will resume. During the next two weeks of this 17th session, 15 States* will be reviewed.

The States’ representatives will appear before the Working Group's 47 members and give an account of the measures that have been taken in a view to comply with their obligations and commitment.

Three hours and a half will be devoted to each country’s examination. This process includes the country’s presentation and a interactive dialogue with the UPR Working group’s States members. And 30 minutes more are devoted to the adoption of each report by the Working group.

At the end, a final document will include recommendations made by the States members that took part to the discussions as well as the State’s position under review. The text will then be adopted by the Human Rights Council.
