Resolution on the World Programme for Human Rights Education

The 21 th of september 2012 The Human Rights Council adopted a Resolution on the World Programme for Human Rights Education (A/HRC/21/L.22) in which he : « Requests the Office of the High Commissioner to seek the views of States, national human rights institutions and other relevant stakeholders on the target sectors, focus areas or thematic human rights issues for the third phase of the World Programme, and to submit a report thereon to the Council at its twenty-fourth session

UPR Info denounces the pratice of back-room negotiations of recommendations during UPR debate at the HRC

«On 21st September, in a joint statement with Conectas Direitos Humanos and the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies at the Human Rights Council (HRC), UPR Info denounced the practice of States negotiating the wording of recommendations made during the UPR. [...]

UPR Info criticised both States under Review and Recommending States which engage in trade-off concerning the wording of recommendations after they have been made during the review. [...]

The 2012 Policy Forum

The 2012 Policy Forum will be held from 16 anto 18 October 2012 at UNESCO’s International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), in Paris.

7th International Training Session on the UPR

CIFEDHOP will be holding in Geneva, from October 18th to October 24th 2012, its 7th International Training Session on the UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review (UPR) for educational and civil society organisations. This training session is mainly organised for teachers, educators, researchers, and NGO involved in human rights education.

Final adoption : United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training

On 19 December, the General Assembly adopted, without a vote, the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training by resolution 66/137. This step marks the final adoption of this new instrument by the United Nations. Resolution 66/137, containing the adopted text of the Declaration, is identical to the draft resolution A/C.3/66/L.65 below and will be made available as soon as it is issued.
